Wealth Matters in Enrolling in Highly Selective Colleges

High school students work hard for years to get into the best college. And the admission decision is based on the students, not the student's parents. Yet, the data show that 15% of students from high-income families are enrolled in highly selective colleges while only 5% and 2% of students from middle-income and low-income families are enrolled in highly selective colleges respectively. The difference between high-income and the rest is pretty large.
